Sewing Tips丨Sewing is not smooth?
Nov 09, 2023
Sewing is not smooth? The most important thing to remember is that it is a good idea to have a good locking system.
For sewing machines, the most important part is the needle. This is a consumable item that will cause some degree of wear and tear if used for a long period of time, and if the machine is not properly used it will lead to deformation and damage to the needle.
Therefore, in the daily sewing process, you must check the condition of the needle and also know how to replace the needle.

How to determine the condition of the needle?
First step:
Place the flat side of the needle on a flat surface (horizontal table). Check the condition of the needle from the tip and both sides. If the needle is bent and unusable, dispose of it safely when it is discarded.

Step two:
The machine needle is in perfect condition if it is in the first condition as shown below. For smooth sewing, the needle must be kept straight and sharp.

How to change the needle?
◆Warm Tip:
Before replacing the needle, be sure to turn off the sewing machine. Otherwise, it may cause injury if the sewing machine starts sewing as a result of accidentally stepping on the foot control. It is recommended to use a high quality sewing machine needle, as other needles may bend, break and cause injury. Never use a bent needle for sewing. Bent needles break easily and may cause injury.
Step one:
Turn off the sewing machine first. Turn the handwheel toward yourself (counterclockwise/in your own arms) and raise the needle so that the mark on the handwheel is facing up (i.e., the highest point of the needle position). Then lower the presser foot toggle (leaving plenty of room for changing the needle).

PS: Before changing the machine needle, place fabric or paper under the presser foot to prevent the needle from falling into the needle plate hole.
Step two:
Hold the needle in your left hand, then use an oval screwdriver (a dollar coin can be substituted) to turn the needle clamp screw counterclockwise to remove the needle.

ps: When loosening or tightening the needle clamp screw, do not use excessive force as this may damage some parts of the sewing machine.
Step Three:
With the flat side of the needle facing the back of the sewing machine, insert the needle until it is against the needle stop position. Then tighten the needle clamp with an oval screwdriver (a dollar bill can be substituted).

PS: Some fans like to use double needles, wing needles, and such special machine needles, and the installation method is the same~
